Greg qualified as a dentist in 1986 from
Newcastle upon Tyne Dental School and practised as a
dentist in West Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire both in
his own single-handed practice and also various group
practices.
He commenced his legal training at Nottingham Law School
in 1991 whilst in dental practice and graduated in 1995
with a commendation in his diploma. He then became a
trainee solicitor with well-known healthcare law firms
in Manchester and was admitted as a solicitor in 1997. |
| Greg practised as a solicitor in the
medical negligence field and initially gained experience
acting for patients and also doctors and dentists. In
August 2000 Greg joined with David Corless-Smith with
whom he had previously worked, to found The Dental Law
Partnership. |
| Greg was a founding member of the International
Dental Ethics and Law Society and also the UK Dental
Law and Ethics Forum. He has written many articles for
journals of law and ethics and also dental journals,
and a major accomplishment was instigating and helping
organise the publication of the Radcliffe Medical Press
textbook on dental law and ethics. He has contributed
to various programmes on Radio 4 and has also featured
in TV documentaries on dentistry. |
| It is perhaps fair to say that Greg was
one of the pioneers in establishing dental negligence
as a legal speciality and he remains fully focused and
motivated to progress patients' rights further. |
| Greg is married (to a dentist) and has
3 children. He lives in Shropshire and his main interests
when time permits are cycle racing and triathlons in
which he competes as regularly as possible. |
| Greg says, “after many years I
am continually surprised by the diversity of cases I
see and still get genuinely excited about winning cases
- especially the novel or high value ones!” |
